Radio Boys (Breckenridge:01) On the Mexican Border (1st Ed.)

The Radio Boys on the Mexican Border is the first volume in the Radio Boys series written by Gerald Breckenridge and published by the A.L. Burt Company. In radio's early, experimental days of the 1920s there were two major series of juvenile fiction titled "The Radio Boys." One series was published by Grosset & Dunlap and written under the name Allen Chapman, and this series published by A.L. Burt. (There was also a short series by Cupples & Leon Company for girls, titled appropriately "The Radio Girls.") Both boys series were written in the early days of radio in the 1920s. This series perhaps has more adult themes and appeals to an older juvenile than the Grosset & Dunlap series. But don't confuse any of these early juvenile fiction series with contemporary series. The older series were written to a much higher reading level, which is partly why adults continue to collect and read them today. (G-Book editions of titles from all three series are available.)

This title was copyright in 1922 along with the next four in the series. All five are available as G-Book editions. This volume is a first edition, likely first printing, as it lists only the first five titles. The sixth title was issued in 1923, so this printing would likely have been during the year 1922.
