The Slipper Point Mystery is a young adult's mystery written in 1919 by children's author Augusta Huiell Seaman (1879-1950). Seaman graduated in 1900 from what later became Hunter College and started teaching elementary school. In 1906 she dedicated herself to writing children's stories, publishing over forty through 1949. Many of the stories take place in New Jersey, including her later residence of Island Beach. Her early stories carry an air of the Victorian era but delved into mystery themes more than a decade before well-known mystery series like Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys. Well-written, humanistic, warm, and nonintrusively educational as well. Many of her books are out of print and quite rare, commanding high prices in the collector's market.
